《天然气地球科学》(月刊)创刊于1990年，是中国科学院主管、中国科学院西北生态环境资源研究院主办的综合性、学术性刊物。旨在评述天然气地球科学的研究进展，报道世界各国天然气勘探开发新理论、新技术、新方法，介绍我国天然气科技攻关和勘探新成果，促进我国天然气地质学学科建设，推动我国天然气工业的发展。主要栏目有综述与评述、天然气地质学、天然气地球化学、天然气勘探、天然气开发、非常规天然气、天然气与环境、天然气资源与经济、研究前缘。主要被荷兰Scopus数据库、日本科学技术振兴机构数据库、美国EBSCO数据库、美国《工程索引》数据库（2013-2015）、 美国化学文摘、美国石油文摘、中文核心期刊要目总览、中国科学引文数据库等收录。先后被评为中国科技核心期刊、RCCSE中国核心学术期刊（A）、中国国际影响力优秀学术期刊、第四届中国精品科技期刊和中国地质学会地学领域高质量科技期刊T1级期刊。
